Some Recent Pubs

Featured in Paper Crafts Magazine's September/October 09 issue - also as an online project.

There two were featured in CARDS magazine's July 2009 issue.

There two were featured in Crafts N' Things September/October 2009 issue.

I have been procrastinating on getting my new scrap studio organized and I have decided this month it is happening and am even taking a couple days of work to tackle it. (I'm embarassed to admit that it was finished being built this spring). I will eventually post some pictures, but then I'm admitting to world I'm spoiled because the room is huge and I have way too many supplies (oops). Because of Operation Organize, I don't have anything new to share this week, but am sharing some cards that were featured recently in various magazines. My plan is to tackle my desk today - I have been sorting embellies, papers etc already) , so I promise you I will have new things to share by the end of the week!

October Afternoon - Cherry Hill and Road Map Collections

I don't know what has gotten into me, but I've been on a layout kick lately. Not a bad problem to have I guess! This layout was made with the Cherry Hill collection. I loved every single part of the collection, so I ended up buying the whole collection pack - oops! The bird was my favorite die cut and so no matter what, this bird was ending up on this layout somehow :-) Extras include some Making Memories ribbon and Creative Cafe buttons.
*This card will be featured in Crafts N' Things February 2010 issue*

While cropping with That Scrappy Girl last week, I also picked up most of the Road Maps collection - oops again! I need to get some trip pictures printed and hope to put together a mini album soon. This line will be listed in her online store soon, so if you are interested, shoot her an email for now. Extras include Adorn It mini alphas, Pink Paislee brad and some ribbon from who knows where.

Scrapbook Trends Color Challenge

*This card will be featured in the April 2010 issue of Crafts N' Things*

There was a color combo challenge posted over on the Scrapbook Trends blog this week. The color combo that she used went perfectly with some of the Scrap Within Reach Industrial Park papers that I had, so I used her combo. I added a dash of red with the gems.

And don't forget about my giveaway :-)

Scrap Within Reach - Emerson, Elliot and Industrial Park Oh My!

*Project will be featured in the April 2010 issue of Crafts N Things*

Papers: Scrap Within Reach - Elliot line
Scalloped Acrylic Page: Clear Scraps XL Deco
Chipboard letters (room): Heidi Swapp
Acrylic Sentiment, Ribbon: Making Memories
Button
Used my Cropodile to make the holes at the top.
Size: 12x12 (not including ribbon)
I feel like my son often gets neglected in my scrap creations. When I saw that I had pictures of him from a couple of his activities that coordinated perfectly with the Elliot line, a wall hanging for his room came to mind. I easily converted the acrylic page into a hanging by punching two holes at the top with my Cropodile and string ribbon thru.

Papers/ABC's: Scrap Within Reach - Emerson
Acrylic Banner: Clear Scraps Banner
(The Clear Scraps blog gave this some love - cool!)

Jewels: Kaisercraft
Ribbon: Bazzill
White Ink: Stazon (inked edges of the banner)
Glittered Flowers: Bazzill
Size: 20x6 (not including addt'l ribbon on the edges to hang)

I put the main piece of paper under the acrylic pieces and then embellished with additonal papers and other embellishments on top. I made for my daughter Emma to hang in her room. I knew if her brother got something and she didn't, she would not be happy...lol.

*This card will be featured in the July issue of Scrapbook News and Review.

Papers/Ribbons/Rubons: Scrap Within Reach - Industrial Park
Staples
Size: 4 1/2 x 6

I layered different papers including some that were fussy cut and applied rubons all over the card. I used the staples to attach the ribbon and thought they added to the industrial, boyish look.

These creations got some love over at Card of the Week :-)

Scrap Within Reach Afternoon Tea - WELCOME sign

*Project will be featured in the April 2010 issue of Crafts N Things.*

Here is a wooden sign I altered this week using one of Scrap Within Reach's new collections - Afternoon Tea. In addition to papers, this line also coming with an alphabet, rubons and some cool ribbons. This wooden sign I found at Hobby Lobby (I stock up when they clearance them) and painted part of the base with purple paint.

This is short and sweet as lots to do before Saturday's trip. I wish I had Friday off!

It's Isn't Easy Being Green

I was home yesterday with a sick Parker and so while he napped, I dug out some supplies. I wanted to use some paper packs I had received recently and hadn't gad time to use yet. When I posted these, I realized everything is green! I also went out in below zero temps to snap these and the wind kept blowing them over and I began to lose feeling in my fingers so I apologize if a couple are crooked! I am also a sketch junkie so all of the cards below are based on sketches. I have some other sketches from other sites I want to tackle too. I am going to a crop on Saturday so hope to have some more to share soon.

*This will be featured in the April 2010 issue of Crafts N Things.*

This was made with the sketch #100 at Card Positioning Systems. They are having a big celebration this week so check it out. I used the Rusty Pickle Lucky line (thank you Jill and Rusty Pickle for the RAK!) and Prima Flowers.

Some more Lucky and Prima. The scalloped paper came from leftovers from the next card. I also find myself using kraft cardstock alot. I use it more than white it seems! This sketch is from a cool new site called Miss Hippy Chick Sketch Blog. They also have page layouts in case you aren't as obsessed with cards as I am!

This sketch is from another fun new site called Card Patterns. Even more Lucky and Prima (loving those felt flowers can you tell?), a Making Memories clip and some American Crafts letters. I heart the pattern on that blue paper.

I used a variety of scraps from my other projects to make this card. Rusty Pickle sticker and those yummy Prima flowers and a K and Company brad. This was made with Sketch #1 from A Scrap Addict's Sketches. They always seem to have a new sketch so be sure to stop by.

These last two cards are from 2 Sketches 4 You. Their DT always puts out the neatest cards. This is Rae's bonus sketch. She is a simple card girl like me..so I stalk her blog alot! SEI Oasis, Prima flowers and American Crafts ABC's. I bought a bunch of textured paper from Hobby Lobby and am digging this green snakeskin one. I apologize that the 'i' is crooked (numb fingers couldn't seem to straighten it) and the card is not sitting up, but my fingers were frozen and I had to work fast before frostbite set in!

This was made with Laura's sketch #18 this week. More SEI Oasis, more Prima, more American Crafts and added an EK Success flower sitcker. Sorry for all of the Hi cards, but my tiny letters stickers (one of my all time card faves) are packed away in one of my many scrapbook tubs for a little bit longer. The insulation is in the walls of my new scrap room...let the drywalling begin. This was put back a few days by the fact that a water pipe broke in our house and soaked our kitchen and family room early Sunday morning. Luckily we caught it early and besides the fact that we've had loud fans blowing on it all week, in the end there was little damage. And I'm happy to report not a single scrap supply was damaged :-)

Thanks for stopping by and stay warm!

2 Sketches 4 You - Laura #9

*Card will be featured in October 2009 issue of Crafts N Things*

I used a variety of manufactures on the card I made for this week's sketch - most items courtesy of Are You Kitting Me. I'm trying to get more outside my comfort zone and not being so match matchy all the time and this kit is perfect to help me do that. Paper is 3 Bugs in a Rug, scalloped paper is from one of the Making Memories notebooks, chipboard fence from Magistical Memories which I applied Doodlebug copper glitter, Daisy Bucket rubon sentiment, Darice gems and some yellow flower ribbon. Size is 4x6.

Made a couple other cards so far with the kit, but submitting to a call so will post in a couple weeks if they don't make the cut.

A Rollercoaster Kind of Day!

The day started out well. I got an email from Crafts N Things and then later from Paper Creations requesting projects. Yeah! I had meaning to submit to Crafts for a long time, and just did for the first time and they saw something they liked! I then arrived home to my goodie box from Paper Trends for an item I had in their June/July issue. It was full of stuff I didn't have...and most of it I can't find around here so that's even better. I got some Dream Street Papers which I'm happy about. The other weekend I contacted every local store for some and no one had any.

Then I got a call from school. Miss Emma (who is in Kindergarten) is testing at a 2nd grade reading level, so they are going to do some more reading with her...go Emma! The day was still on a high note because we actually had a night where we weren't running to activities. I had a couple more cards I wanted to make for a call that ended today. I get home and find out that our internet is out because of some doo hickey that went down and they didn't know when it'd be up. I guess it affected a lot of people. I went ahead and made the cards and crossed my fingers I'd get online in time.

After putting the kids to bed I went into our mudroom where the freezer is and find the door wide open. It has been this way for the last 24 hours! Originally I thought it was my fault, but turns out it was the hubby. There was actually no yelling though and everything is cleaned up...he had been wanting to clean it out for a while...well he got his wish! I still can't get onto our computer, but finally I was able to get on the laptop. I had to do some fancy magic in order to get the pictures onto the laptop, but the cards have been sent off. Of course I know they probably won't get any love, but I tried anyway! So I guess that means the night ended on a high note...internet is back (well sort of anyway).

P.S. Pampered Chef stuff I thought was indestructible...but you can melt the handle on the pizza cutter!!!!

Daisy D's July Challenge Toot!

*Removed for publication in an upcoming Crafts N Things issue.

I was excited to find out today that I won their July Challenge Contest. It was to create paper decorations using Daisy D's paper and embellishments. I used the Wonder Years line. I created a card, banner, cup and hat. I used brads to connect the animals' arms so you can actually move them. I was really happy with the way it turned out..I guess Daisy D's was too :-) I can't wait to get some new Daisy D's goodies to play with!

2 Sketches 4 You Card - Kazan #4 Sketch

*Card will be featured in October 2009 issue of Crafts N Things*

I'm home with the kids today and they are in a heated game of Hungry Hippos so I was able to get this card made. I used this week's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. After I got it done, I realized I deviated quite a bit, but am very happy with the way the card turned out. Embossed white paper is Doodlebug, transparency and quote paper are Fancy Pants, jewels are Paper Studio, Doodlebug and Darice. Size is 5x7.
