Creative Charms Cards

I wanted to show that you can use "vintage" products on "non-vintage" projects. Although I do dabble in creating vintage projects, I often find myself reaching for the bright colors. I mixed some Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely papers with the Vintage Make It Yours Self Adhesive Frames. I love that these frames give you a blank slate and so you can create matching embellishments for your project. On this card I put a flower from the paper into the frame, the clear sticker over the top and topped it with a Gradient Gem - white pearl. I also used a few of the clear stickers without the frames to highlight the words on my card.

Here are a couple other cards I made with the September Deal of the Month (girl). I used a three different types of gems and also that cute little duckie. There are so many goodies in this kit - I still have lots of embellishments left! You only have a few more days to order one - there is boy and girl option - only $7.99. Papers and ABC stickers on duck card are October Afternoon's Fly A Kite. On the balloon card, sentiment sticker is SRM and balloon is a Jillibean Soup Sprout.

Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl

*Card removed for publication in the November '10 issue of Cards Magazine*
I received some new Material Girl this weekend from That Scrappy Girl and dug right in! I was cropping with my sisters and some friends and actually got a few things done besides talk, eat and shop. It is National Craft Month so I decided to make a wall hanging for my craft room. I used a piece of acrylic from Midnight Oil Scrapbook Designs as the base and then used various items from Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl. I also had time to make a couple cards as well. This collection is super cute, so I am sure I will have more things to share soon!
(That Scrappy Girl is busy adding all kinds of new products from Cosmo Cricket, Sassafras Lass and others so if you don't see it in the store yet, it's coming soon :-)

Some Rejects

Here are a few cards I made for some recent calls. They didn't get the love, so now I am sharing them with you. This first card uses papers from That Scrappy Girl's November kit featuring the Cosmo Cricket's Nutmeg collection. The cardstock is from Creatively Green. Sorry about the cheesy pun!
This card uses Cosmo Cricket's Early Bird collection. The cork teapot (came in a package of 3 I think) was from the $1 spot either at Target or Michael's. I'm such a sucker for the $1 areas!

This card was made using the October Afternoon Road Map collection also available at That Scrappy Girl. Lately I've noticed I'm going thru a phase of having my elements hang over the edge of my cards. I am such a rebel!

This last card I made uses Kaisercraft's Loire Valley collection. Rubon is from Basic Grey. I also made an Anniversary card out of the same line, but have somehow managed to misplace it. I can't imagine losing anything in my craft pit, I mean room? (insert sarcasm)
Challenge Alert! There is also a "Love" challenge going on over at That Scrappy Girl. You can win some Elle's Studio or Maya Road goodies. The winners will be announced on February 24th.

I Caught A Fish Card

Although we are almost done with fall ... and winter is around the corner, what do you get from me? A summerish card! This was in the August issue of Cards magazine and uses Cosmo Cricket's Snorkel line.

Also wanted to give you a heads up about a giveaway over on the Scrapbook Trends blog. You can win a kit from Scrapbooking From The Inside Out.

Cropping tommorow, so should have some new things to share with you next week!

That Scrappy Girl - A Nutmeg Kind of Fall - November Kit

I posted these cards over on That Scrappy Girl's blog today. Both were made with the November Main Kit - A Nutmeg Kind of Fall - featuring Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg. The cute little tag on the first card is from Shabby Chic Crafts. When making these cards I also drew inspiration fromt the Tuesday Trigger over at Paper Craft's Moxie Fab blog. The Nutmeg line goes perfectly with this!

The November Mini Kit at That Scrappy Girl is also up - Look Who's Talking. It features Jillibean Soup's Talk Soup line.
There is also a new sketch challenge due on December 1st. You can win a Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday paper kit. I will be sharing my take on the sketch later this month.

That Scrappy Girl's November Kit featuring Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg

*This card will be featured in the April 2010 issue of CARDS magazine.*

Here are a couple more creations from Saturday's 15 crop. I was able to create a couple things with the new That Scrappy Girl November kit. (The kit picture will be up soon on the website) I still have a bunch of ideas swirling in my head, especially cards. I always think Cosmo Cricket's lines work so well for cards because of all the different elements. The layout also tied in with an "I Love Your Smile" layout contest over at Ella Publishing. I just love this picture of my son Parker. He is my serious, analytical child, with a bit of a perfectionist streak (and isn't always a smiler). I bought this quarter map when he was a baby (which of course got lost somewhere in the back of the closet). We found it about a year ago and he immediately got obsessed with getting every quarter out there. He finally got to within one quarter and no matter how hard we tried, we could not find Pennyslvania. Bless his heart, Pastor Gene at church hunted one down for him.

Some Simple Shares

Here are a couple more things I made at last Saturday's crop. I made this layout in a few minutes after spending WAY too long (hours....) on the Concert layout on an earlier post. It's another picture from her dance recital this Spring. I printed all kinds of pictures, so beware...you'll probably see more of the pink and white polka dotted outfit! Papers are Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday available from That Scrappy Girl. And of course I had to add some gems! I scrap in both 8 1/2 x 11 and 12x12. I eventually put my layouts in 3 ring binders so you can mix sizes easily. When I only have one picture I want to scrap, sometimes a 12x12 seems like way too much surface area to decorate.

Also made a quick and easy wedding card using some Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon and Making Memories Mini Alphas.

"The Scrappy Shack" Shares

My room is as done as can be at this point, so today I sat down and got creative with some of The Scrappy Shack die cuts I received in this month's package. Here is what I have made so far. It was such a nice feeling that when I knew I wanted summer themed stuff I went to the summer tub...bam! When I needed school stuff, went to the school tub...bam! I am not used to that!
This first card is made with the Palm Tree Circle Die Cut, Cosmo Cricket Snorkel papers and chipboard and some flocked brads from Doodlebug for the coconuts.
This card is made with the Alphabet Circle Frame, some Scenic Route and October Afternoon papers and a We R Memory Keepers grommet. I thought this die cut fit in perfectly with the School challenge over at Scrap N Win so I entered this card over there as well.

This was a quick and easy wall art (picture frame) I made for Emma to put in her room using the Blah Blah Blah Word Balloon. She has already mastered the eye roll and the door slam and I've heard Blah, Blah, Blah out of her mouth on occasion. She is 6 going on 16! I bought a cheap 5x7 black frame at Walmart, cut a piece of textured paper from The Paper Company, added some Doodlebug chunky glitter to the die cut and I was done. I love when I get the chance to make home decor!

Some Cosmo Cricket Early Bird

And some more of my creations from the girls scrapping weekend. Haven't had time this week to make anything, but hoping to get my scrap on this weekend. I had a number of items picked up for publication recently - yeah!! and so after the kids go to bed instead of scrappin' I've been typin' and packin'. Here are a couple simple little cards I made using mostly Cosmo Cricket Early Bird. I also got out one of my Martha Stewart punches to make a fun edge.

Not totally loving this layout, but I'll be brave and share anyway. And then of course immediately after I create the layout I find a 3rd picture that would have gone with it. Too late now :-) This is my daughter Emma and her cousin Sydney (my brother's daugther) from a couple Christmases ago. They are pretty close in age, but very different in size - one Amazon, one petite - both are divas so they have that in common anyway...lol. Now I'm not saying Amazon in a mean way...Emma has gotten used to being a head taller than most kids her age!

Just My Sketches July 15 Reveal - Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday

Here is my card I made for this month's sketch at Just My Sketches. I used papers and ribbon from the Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday line, Autumn Leaves buttons and some American Crafts Foam Thickers. I have soooo much ribbon and I'm trying to do a better job of actually using it! If somewhere had a bow tying class...I would definitely sign up!

Cosmo Cricket Snorkel and Girl Friday Cards

These two were made with Girl Friday papers and pink ribbon. I'm a sucker for anything bright colored, flowers or bird related. Felt bird is Chatterbox, rubons are American Crafts, ABC stickers are Making Memories, green felt ribbon is Joann's and bling is MAMBI and Paper Studio.
****CARD REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION IN CARDS AUGUST 2009 ISSUE****

These are some cards hoping to bring out the sunshine here in Iowa! I totally loved this Snorkel line. I even went back and bought more because I have some summer pictures these go perfect with too. Papers, rubons, ribbons are all Snorkel, cardstock is Prism, gems are MAMBI and Paper Studio

Got all of this yummy new Cosmo Cricket and while I was shopping at That Scrappy Girl while at a crop last weekend. It was a 14 hour one and I made these towards the end...so they turned out pretty quick and simple! It's late so I'm signing off!

A Trio of Cards

Here is a card I made with the Honey Pie line from Cosmo Cricket. This card was featured recently in the sketch section of the Paper Crafts March/April 2009 issue. I just love using kraft cardstock. You'll notice it a lot on my blog :-)

These next two cards are a couple of rejects for a recent call. They didn't get the love, but that's ok. That's the way she goes...lol. I use some We R Memory Keepers Hoopla papers, Basic Grey stickers, Bazzill brads and Autumn Leaves and Heidi Swapp flowers.

I used some My Mind's Eye paper (love the texture and glitter on this line Out & About), a Heidi Swapp flower, Creative Imaginations flower brad. I used my label maker for the sentiment.
Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I do have some fun news to share. I was selected to the Just My Sketches card team. I love sketches so this will be fun!
Also be sure to check out Christine's blog. Not only does she have a fun giveaway but she has also opened up a scrapbook retreat called Scrap Retreat House at French Valley. I wish I lived closer as my scrap gang and I are always on the lookout for a fun place to scrap!

Cosmo Cricket Cards

Here are a couple cards I made a little while ago using their Honey Pie line. Speaking of Cosmo Cricket be sure to check out Leah Killian's blog as she is giving a ton of goodies away!

You will probably not hear much from me until after the new year. I MUST wrap presents asap and need to get a couple more items bought or the Santa gifts will be pretty weak this year! Also need to get some cooking done. I am working Monday and Tuesday and then taking the rest of the week off.
Other shares:

Paper Crafts picked up a couple cards for their Card Creations Vol 7 issue coming out in June. I just love their publications and am always thrilled to get an email from them. Cath also has a new blog that has tons of inspiration and giveways too. Be sure to check it out - it is Moxie Fab!

Jillibean Soup - I found this fun company who has some super cute product. The owner also likes the Iowa Hawkeyes so score one for her in my book!

Happy Holidays to everyone!!!!!

Di Hickman Sketch June #4

I kept this card pretty simple, but loving the way it turned out. I was a little nervous about the slant on the sketch, but it actually came together quickly! I used Bazzill Cardstock, Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie, Making Memories felt ribbon, Prima Flower and Paper Studio brad. Size is about 3x6. Oops I just realized how crooked I took the picture. When I get some daylight I'll try for a little better one.

Danielle Flanders Sketch

I can't remember how I even found her blog but I visit frequently as she makes the neatest cards. Her layouts are pretty cool too! She posted a sketch challenge this week and this is my attempt. I changed the triangle to a half circle. I have to admit I had some problems getting started on this one...I think the triangle scared me for some reason...lol. Paper and Die Cut are Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie, ABC Stickers are American Crafts, Prima Flower, a little Clearsnap Chestnut Roan ink, Paper Studio bling and Making Memories Brad. Size is 4x6.

He's Superfreaky!

This is Parker being a goofball! Click for a larger pic.

The paper and die cuts are from Cosmo Crickets's Storytime line. Cardstock is Bazzill and the chipboard letters are Heidi Swapp.

A Couple of Cogsmos!

The name reminds me of the Jetsons! Cogsmo is a cute paper line from Cosmo Cricket and it just happened to fall in my cart the other day at Hobby Lobby....
The first Cogsmo card you will need to click here to find it in the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol contest.

The "I'm nuts for you" card was also made with Cogsmo and also some American Crafts ribbon, Doodlebug rubons, Bazzill cardstock and Paper Studio brad screws.

It keeps raining here off and on, so during a dry spell I ran outside to snap these.

Paper Crafts Gallery Idol Entries

The first round are friendship cards - but we can't post them online anywhere but their gallery so see the links below. I made these a few days ago and have finally been able to get some pics of them taken. I used Cosmo Cricket's Honey Pie line on both of them. This paper is very versatile and can be used for a variety of cards. Also like how it looks little bit shabby, but not too crazy shabby!
