Misc Card!

(Click for a better view)

I'm not sure what category this card falls under? Love maybe? The kids had soccer practice tonight (man it's hot) and I managed to find a few minutes in my scrap room after we got home. I used Autumn Leaves French Twist papers, K and Company quote sticker, the new Loop-De-Loo stamp from Apple Blossom Studio, Clearsnap Chestnut Roan ink, Artful Collage flowers and leaves from Prima, and some Paper Studio gems. Size is about 4 3/4 x 6 1/2.

Scrapbook Trends December Issue

Happy (and suprised!) to get an email requesting an item for their December issue earlier this week. It is an altered type item, but that's probably all the info I can share. No love from Paper Trends for their latest call, but I still love the magazine...I won't hold it against them :-)

Big Brother is on tonight, but there are also some scrappy things I want to work on tonight, so I may multi-task once the kidlets are in bed. Right now they are involved in a Pokemon battle with Daddy on the Nintendo 64. Parker always kicks your butt! Heck, Emma even can too. At their age I only had crayons!

Creatively Yours - Card Sketch #9

(click for a better view)
Big shocker it rained here again yesterday (A LOT!) And of course that meant our electricity went out again - this time for about 5 hours. About once a week this keeps happening sigh.... So I'm finally able to get this card posted to the blog.

You can find this cool sketch here. I modified some as you can see - such as making the card a narrow up and down one instead of squatty. I used some more of the yummy Daisy D's Chloe Marie, added a K and Company quote sticker, Paper Studio bling and some Jolee's butterflies that I found in my stash when I was looking for something else...love when that happens! It's like you went shopping, but didn't spend anymore money. Hubby has to like that!! I also used the Blossom Badge frame stamp from Apple Blossom Studio and Colorbox chalk ink to make the die cut looking thing under the quote.

CPS Sketch #75

(click for a better view)
Wow, I attacked this sketch fast this week! I used some more Daisy D Chloe Marie papers and die cut and also used Making Memories ribbon (Lauren Collection) and chipboard pieces, Paper Studio glitter brads and a Darice gem. I tipped the sketch sideways. Size is 4 1/4 x 6.

Creatively Yours - Card Sketch #8

Found another very cool sketch site. Can you tell I spend a lot of time online???LOL. Here is my take on their latest card sketch. They also have layout sketches too if you are more of a scrapper than a cardmaker. I used Basic Grey Infuse paper and diecuts, inked everything up a little more with my Clearsnap Chestnut Roan, and added a Paper Studio gem and One Heart One Mind rubon sentiment. Size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

Sketches By Tamara - Card Sketch #54

*Removed for publication in Cards January 2009 issue.

Here is another fun sketch site. I decided to tackle her latest sketch. I went with a circle on the card, but didn't do as a circle card mainly because I couldn't find my circle cutter! I also turned the sketch sideways. I got to use my Martha Stewart butterfly punch again (I love that thing, need to go and get the classic butterfly shape too), also used Making Memories Noteworthy paper, Paper Studio bling and Doodlebug rubons. Size is 4x8.

Caardvarks 2 Sketch Challenge - 2 Sketches 4 You

I was happy to see that 2 Sketches 4 You was providing the sketches for the current Caardvark challenge. After the kidlets went to bed last night I retreated to my scrap room and came up with these. We even have a day without rain (although the humidity is stifling) so I was able to snap some photos this morning.

Congratulations Card: I deviated a bit...ok maybe alot including tipping the sketch sideways... Supplies I use are Basic Grey Infuse papers and die cuts, Paper Studio bling, EK Success photo corner punch and American Crafts ribbon. Size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

Hi Card: Ok deviating a bit again, but I absolutely love this Daisy D's Chloe Marie stuff that they sent me the other day. I am a girl that loves her flowers!!! I also used some Paper Studio buttons and some thread. I bent some of the leaves for added dimension. Size is 6 x 5 1/2.

Page Plan's Sketch #14 - Chris

I found this neat site Page Plans thru another cool site Card of the Week. I decided to give this week's card sketch a try! I used birthday paper from Around the Block, Joann's felt rick rack, Paper Studio flocked brads and star rhinestones. Size is 4x6. I love to use bright colors on birthday stuff!

Emma's Paperie Sketch - Wish Card

**This card will be featured in Paper Crafts Card Creations Vol 7 coming out in June 2009**

I used a white card base and then added SEI Chocolat paper, pink border sticker and cut out a couple butterflies. I added some Paper Studio bling, Making Memories sentiment and my Fiskars Threading Water punch on the bottom. This was the first time I had used the punch and I messed up but ended up liking the result - happy accident! You can find the sketch here. Size 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

Emma's Paperie was also nice enough to send me a gift card for my birthday and once I get some publishing money, I'm going shopping!
ETA: This got a mention over at Card of the Week!

2 Sketches 4 You - Kazan #5

(click for a better view)
I just got these cool butterfly clips from Making Memories the other day and was itching to use them. Also pulled out one of my faves - Doodlebug glitter paper. I also added some Joann's felt ribbon, K and Company paper (I cut out the butterfly) Making Memories white Spring stickers, American Crafts ribbon, Paper Studio bling and some Bazzill Bling and regular cardstock. Size is about 5 x 5 1/2. Very fun sketch this week!

CPS - Sketch #74

I ended up going with a birthday card for this week's sketch. First I planned to do a baby card, but I just couldn't seem to get it to work, so I changed horses in the middle of the stream as Grandpa says! I ended up pretty happy with the way it turned out...I had to add some bling to sass it up a bit! Cardstock is Bazzill Bling, paper is Around the Block, bling is Paper Studio, ribbon is American Crafts. Size is 4 1/4 x 6.

Paper Crafts August September 2008 Issue

Nothing new to share yet, so here is my card on page 51 of their latest magazine. It was made with Cafe Chic papers from Dream Street Papers. Other items include stamp from Heidi Swapp, acrylic flower from One Heart One Mind, ribbon from Creative Imaginations and Clearsnap Ink (Chestnut Roan).

I spent some time to tonight trying to unpack a bit from Saturday's crop. I used to love crops and now it seems all they do is create more work sometimes! When your room is about the size of a walk-in closet it quickly becomes trashed (first when you pack, then when you unpack). We are still throwing around the idea of adding onto the house. Of course we can't agree on anything (especially because of a limited budget), but his last round of ideas include a large craft/misc room - probably 400 plus square feet. This would mean no big master bath, but heck I spend more time in my scrap room than I do in the bathroom anyway...lol. Wow, just think how many more supplies I could stuff in a room that size! Unfortunately I'll believe it when I see it....

A Great Mail Day!

One of my goals this year was to get into Cards Magazine. I think they finally felt sorry for this poor Jennifer person that kept emailing them....lol. Today I got an email that 3 cards were selected for their December issue! Also a good postal mail day. I got my goodie box from Daisy D's for winning their June contest. Lots of yummy goodies in it! Now I need to find the time to play! I'll be glad when evening swimming lessons are over this week (they end at 9)...it's severely cutting into my scrap time :-)

Reminisce Signature Series - Vegas Card

I'm planning to do a mini album about our Vegas trip in February and I'm planning to pick up more of the Reminisce Signature Series Vegas and Let It Ride papers when I do. Other items include Paper Studio brads and Dymo label tape.

Whale Done Card - Melissa Phillips Sketch Challenge/Lime Tart

(click on picture for better view)
I made this for a sketch challenge at Melissa Phillips' blog. I stalk her blog quite regularly. The stuff she makes is just amazing! I love the way she layers things and pays attention to the smallest detail. When I try to layer embellishments or try something shabby chic, it just turns into a disaster! Be sure to stop by for some great inspiration!

Size of the card is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I used Bazzill cardstock, paper and sticker is once again from K and Company's Berry Sweet line, ABC rubons and glitter cardstock are Doodlebug, Brads are Paper Studio, ink is Clearsnap and the oval/square stamp is from Apple Blossom Studio. I won this stamp along with some others from her blog and they rock! I like that they are a bigger size and also take ink great. I'm planning to use on more projects so be sure to check back for more stamp stuff!

Be Cool Card - Scenic Route

I made this for their July challenge. It was to make anything summer themed. This is one of their older lines, but I still love it! I had some scraps left and I thought this paper shouted summer! In addition to the paper (I also made the rays by cutting strips from the paper) and the chipboard triangle from being from Scenic Route, I also used Bazzill cardstock, American Crafts chipboard ABC's, Paper Studio bling and miscellaneous buttons. Size is 6x6.

Thanks Card - Butterflies, Butterflies, Butterflies!

*Removed for publication in Cards January 2009 issue.

I made this yesterday at the crop and this was probably my favorite of the day. I used kraft cardstock, a piece of KI Memories Lace Cardstock (love that stuff!), used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch (this fell in my cart at Michael's yesterday) on some Doodlebug glitter cardstock and added some Darice gems and Doodlebug ABC rubons. Size is 4x8.

Trio of Dream Street Designs

*Card removed for publication in Paper Crafts magazine Fall 09.

I made these for a challenge over at their blog. I was bummed though because their other challenge (to use two different lines) I wasn't able to do. I hunted all over town for some at the different stores, but was unsuccessful in finding a 2nd line to use. There are a lot of cool different manufacturers out there that I can't find locally and I'm going to have to break down and start ordering more online soon! There is just something I like about an actual store, where you can touch stuff.

These cards were created with their Cafe Chic line. I really like the colors in these papers and had some left from an online kit. I have a bit of a hoarding problem... Other extras I used include Darice and Paper Studio gems, Imaginesce brad, American Crafts ABC's, Bazzill Bling, Making Memories ABC's, Heidi Swapp journaling circle and stamp, Doodlebug ABC rubons and some Clearsnap Chestnut Roan ink. The cards are in a variety of sizes.

Making Memories - Thank You Card

This one didn't follow a sketch. I still had this yummy Making Memories Noteworthy paper on my desk from my CPS card and I didn't want to put it away yet! Since I had this in 8x8 size (got at Archiver's as a special gift for overspending :-), I folded an 8x8 in half for the card base, cut one of the lined MM papers in half (it already had the cool edging), tucked a little green MM paper behind the open flower, added a couple flowers from KI Memories for the center, added a One Heart One Mind rubon, blinged it up with some Paper Studio rhinestones, and topped off with some Making Memories ribbon. I really like how this card turned out and very simple to do!

2 Sketches 4 You - Laura #4

I dug into my K and Company Berry Sweet again. I just can't seem to stay out of it. I just love the bright colors! At least I'm not hoarding and actually using :-)

This ended being kind of a "mini-card." It's about 3x4 1/2. In addition to the Berry Sweet papers and pink felt ribbon, I added some Paper Studio gems, Imaginesce brads, Amercian Crafts ABC's and Creative Cafe felt ribbon. I kept pretty true to the sketch this week. Can you tell I like pink??

CPS Sketch #73 - Making Memories

Once again didn't find time till later in the week to get some scrapping done. After the huge rainstorm last night I was able to take some outside pics this morning and since our electricity is back I'm able to post!

I have been hoarding the Making Memories Noteworthy pack I got at Archiver's awhile ago. It's just so darn cute, but I finally broke down and opened the package for this sketch. Itcame in an 8x8 size so it's perfect for cards. On this card I folded one in half to make my card base - very easy! I added a KI Memories flower and a One Heart One Mind rubon, added a few Mark Richards rhinestones, inked a bit with Clearsnap Chesnut brown and I was done! Size is 4 x 8.

Use Your Stash July Challenge - Use Your Stamps!

Using Clearsnap Chestnut Roan (my all-time fave ink) I stamped the turtle onto Scenic Route Asheland Avenue from the Ashville line, added some bling from The Paper Studio and then cut him out. I adhered him to a quote card I cut from Fancy Pants Sweet Spring line - I love those cards! I stamped the Bazzill card base and the Prima flower with a flower from KI Memories Blooms stamp set. I adhered the flower with a pop dot and added bling to center as well. Turtle stamp is from the Kim Hughes Collection of Cornish Heritage Farms. Size is 4x6.

I stamped Hot Off the Press Flight of Fancy butterfly stamps onto embossed swirl Doodlebug paper to add some texture. I then bent the wings slightly and added pop dots for more dimension. The other stamp I used was the sentiment and that is from the Kim Hughes Collection of Cornish Heritage Farms. Paper is Rusty Pickle Pop Star and bling is from The Paper Studio. Size is 5x7

I made these for the July Challenge over at Use Your Stash. The turtle and the sentiment stamp I got in a RAK (along with some other cool goodies) from Kim Hughes. Be sure to check out her blog. Her stamps are so adorable and I see that she is coming out with a cool paper line as well. I wish I had one teaspoon of her talent!

I've already got some other ideas for that turtle floating around in my head including a card that says - You're a Hero in a Half Shell!

CPS Sketch #72

Finally finding a little time to do this week's sketch. This week has just been nuts with househunting (I think we've decided to stay where we are :-), tball games, TaeKwenDo, school open house and school starting Wednesday. Also went to Balloons and Toons (the kickoff to the hot air balloon season in our town). Anyhoo, I struggled a little - I think because I started with the flower die cuts and then had trouble finding things to go with them. The die cuts and fabric brad are from K and Company, flower playing card is Fancy Pants, metal flower from Paper Studio, rubons from Scrapworks, green cardstock from Archiver's and kraft cardstock from DMD. I inked everything with Clearsnap Chestnut Roan. I cut the middle flower in half to give it a different look and also pop dotted behind it and curled the edges a bit. The sentiment says Thank You For All You Do (in case it's too small to read). Size of the card is 8 1/2 x 4.

Daisy D's Card and Gift Box - Giftmaker

This is one of my fave projects, so I was excited when it was picked up to be in Giftmaker's June issue. Unfortunately Giftmaker decided not to continue the magazine (bummed because it was a very cool mag and one of the first mags to ever publish me), so I was waiting to hear what it would be in. It is to be featured on their E Patterns site along with an altered frame and a bracelet that were also to be in their June issue. The paper and buttons are both from the Autumn Collection of Daisy D's. I won the buttons at an Archiver's crop and have used them all up :-( Chipboard flowers are Fancy Pants, stamp is Heidi Swapp, paint is either Plaid or Making Memories, cardstock is Archiver's and ink is Clearsnap Chestnut Roan. I bought the paper mache box at Walmart.
P.S. I see it's after midnight so happy bday to me :-)

Use Your Stash Card Design Team

I'm excited to have been asked to join the Use Your Stash card design team. I've been saying I want to make more cards and now I'll have too...lol. Each month they have different challenges for both layouts and cards and give away some prizes too, so be sure to check it out! When I'm smart enough to figure out how to add a blinkie, you'll see it on my blog.

School starts tomorrow for my two kidlets and so we had open house tonight and then getting the backpacks ready so no time to be creative tonight!

2 Sketches 4 You Card - Kazan #4 Sketch

*Card will be featured in October 2009 issue of Crafts N Things*

I'm home with the kids today and they are in a heated game of Hungry Hippos so I was able to get this card made. I used this week's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. After I got it done, I realized I deviated quite a bit, but am very happy with the way the card turned out. Embossed white paper is Doodlebug, transparency and quote paper are Fancy Pants, jewels are Paper Studio, Doodlebug and Darice. Size is 5x7.

Anniversary Guest Book

Here is the guestbook I made for the anniversary party on Saturday. I think it measures about 12 inches tall and 12 inches wide when opened. The chipboard album is by Melissa Frances. The chipboard flowers are Fancy Pants, green brads are Paper Studio, white flowers are Prima ribbon cut up, rubons are DCWV and paint is Plaid - Bright Magenta and Bright Yellow. The bright yellow was nearly the death of me! I applied 7 or 8 coats (the whole 2 oz bottle of craft paint) to the album. Yellow does not cover well, but in the end it worked out just fine :-) These were the colors used for the decorations at the party. On the inside I stamped flowers on the pages. Flowers are foam stamps from Maya Road, yellow ink Pretty Color, pink ink unknown and green ink Versa Color.

In other scrap news...

Check out the CPS Sketch for last week #71 - I was one of the top picks! I was really happy with this card, so I'm glad others thought it was cool too.

Eye-Lets Etc. is having a challenge this month. You need to use eyelets on a layout, card etc. to get your name entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate. Deadline is July 30th and you can enter as many times as you want. You can find the link here.

Got my Memory Makers Idea Gallery '08 magazine right before we left for the holiday weekend. I thought it wasn't coming out till the fall, so I was excited to see it - in particular because one of the layouts is about my Grandma Hansen (I married a Hansen and my mom was also a Hansen so our kids have a lot of Grandma and Grandpa Hansens!) that passed away a year ago July 3rd. You can find it on page 40. I also have another one called "God Guys" on page 78 . I will post the actual layouts to the blog once I'm able.

Happy 4th and some Fun News!

We're heading into town in a bit for another day of 4th activies. The first thing on the agenda is the parade. Parades mean lots of candy :-)

My news is that I have been asked to join the Eye-Lets Etc Team. I should have a kit on my doorstep when I get home so I can't wait to get started. It should be a lot of fun :-)

Happy 4th everyone!

2 Sketches 4 You - Laura # 3

I decided to make a 4th of July card in celebration of this weekend. As soon as I can get us packed up we are heading back home for the weekend. In my little hometown it's a big deal - parade, fireworks etc. The Hansen Family also has a big BBQ every year and this year we are also celebrating Grandma and Grandpa Hansen's anniversary with a big party including Steve's band. Lots to do and of course I am not near ready yet! So this will be short.

Card was made with this week's 2 Sketches 4 You Sketch, Bazzill Cardstock, Reminisce paper, Paper Studio Brads, Making Memories ribbon, Stampdendous stamp and white ink. Size about 4 x 4 3/4.
