Making It Up As I Go Giveaway!

To celebrate the fact that I have been so darn lucky with giveaways lately, the fact that people actually stop by my blog and also the fact that I will be moving to a larger scrap space in a few months...I want to give away a few things! I'm making a little bit of this up as I go - not sure how many RAK's and how big they will be yet. I might do one big one...might do some littler ones so there are more winners. That might depend on how many entries I get! This is pretty much my life - I make things up as I go! I may update as to what I'm including, once I start doing some scrap room cleaning! I will draw on September 1st - Labor Day!

All you have to do is share an organizing tip, product, idea for a scrap room...or heck it could be for anything in your house. I need help in that area too! If you have any links, that'd be great!

Good luck everyone and leave an email address if I don't have any way to contact you. For shipping purposes I'd better leave this open to only US folks.

Scrapbook and Cards Today Cruised By My Blog!

Scrapbook and Cards Today is a quarterly Canadian magazine that...as the name says is about scrapbooking and cards! The magazine can also be viewed online if you can't get your hands on a hard copy. There are always some great creations in there so be sure to check it out.

They are the magazine that I had my very first pub ever in! I found out they cruised by my blog and are now sending some scrappy goodness my way! Can't wait to see what it is and you know me I'll be posting some future creations using some of it!

Making Memories Passport Collection Cards

I made these at another crop last weekend. I'm just getting around to posting them...bad blogger!

Paper on all the cards is from Making Memories Passport Collection. Flower is Martha Stewart, Brad is Making Memories, Happy Bday sticker is EK Success Inspirables and ribbon is ????. I inked everything up with Clearsnap Chesnut Roan. Card is 4 1/4 x 6 1/4.

This card looks pinker in the pic that IRL. In addition to the paper, I used more Martha Stewart flowers, EK Success Inspirable sentiment and Paper Studio bling. Size is 3 1/2 x 6.

*Card removed for publication in April 2009 CARDS Magazine.
Also used Making Memories brads, Paper Studio bling and EK Success Inspirable sentiment. This is a mini at 3 x 3 1/2.

Red and Black Cards

*Will be featured in the February 2009 issue of CARDS.
The black cardstock is Archiver's, red scalloped is from Bazzill, flower rubon is Daisy D's, Thanks is from Rusty Pickle and bling is Paper Studio. Card is 6x6.

Kraft cardstock I believe is Archiver's, red is Bazzill, butterfly rubons are Daisy D's, miss you is Doodlebug, butterfly die cut is from KI Memories paper, black bling is taken from a Prima swirl and white bling is from Paper Studio. This is a mini card at 3 x 3 1/2.

All the cardstock was from the August kit that we received last night at the Archiver's crop.

2 Sketches 4 You - Laura #7

Here my take on this week's sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You. I deviated a bit! I got together with my two sisters and my two friends (who are also sisters) at Archiver's last night. I started on this one at the crop and then finished up with the glitter at home today. Bringing glitter to a pretty packed table at a crop...not a good idea!!!

I used some Doodlebug glitter/embossed paper and a Heidi Swapp chipboard flower that both fell into my basket last night. I also used a Hambly transparency, Paper Studio bling, Archiver's cardstock and Doodlebug glitter and rubons. To apply the glitter I used Modge Podge and then added a second layer of glitter on top of the first using more Modge Podge since I wanted a little more color. Tip: my favorite way to get the glitter back into the tiny little Doodlebug bottle is to use one of those cheapy paper plates from Walmart - you know the kind where you need 5 just to have it support a hamurger! I then fold the plate to get it to funnel back in. I also hid the glue dots for the transparency behind the flower and in the corner behind the swirl. Card size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. This card is brighter in person.
Don't forget I'm drawing on Monday for my RAK!

Pink Paislee Layout - SNOW

These are some more of the goodies courtesy of Emma's Paperie. This is one of my fave pictures of Emma. I think she was 3 years old here. Papers/Topsider sticker are from the Pop Fashion line from Pink Paislee, letters are Amercian Crafts, cardstock is Bazzill and buttons are from Paper Studio/Buttons Galore. Size of the layout is 12x12. Picture I used was 5x7.

2 Sketches 4 You - Kazan #7 and Ingrid

*This card will be featured in the May 2009 issue of CARDS magazine.
Kazan #7

Ingrid

I tackled both sketches over there this week. I made them at a 12 hr crop today. While there I went outside to take pics so I could get posted tonight. It was windy and they kept blowing over so I propped them up in the back of the van. At least the scrappers inside couldn't see me...they'd wonder who that nut is outside taking pics of her cards!

I used my goodies I won from Emma's Paperie. I even made a layout with it too, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see it - darn wind! I love the colors of the Pink Paislee Pop Fashion line. I used papers and Topsiders (chipboard piece and stickers). Also used Prima flowers and bling, American Crafts Thickers, KI Memories sticker, Paper Studio button and jewels.

Be sure to sign up for my RAK!

A Trio of Boxes!

I made my first box ever! And it was so easy and fun I made two more! I'm attempting the challenge over at the 3D Design Challenge site this week. This is a brand new site and the people running it are super creative so be sure to check it out often for inspiration. The boxes measure 2 x 3 1/2. I also busted out my Scor-Pal for the first time.

*Easter Box removed for publication in Paper Crafts Cards and Gifts published Spring/Summer 2009.

I threw in a little something extra with this one - a card! I used DCWV Baby Boy Nursery stack and Craft N Craftin' stickers. I think those stickers are just adorable! I will have to hide this little box from my daughter or I know her...she'll claim as her own!

This little wedding box could be used for decor at a bridal shower or even at a wedding. I used Reminisce paper (it's hard to see in the paper, but there are glitter hearts on it), Fancy Pants playing card (this ended up being the same size as the box - happy accident), Paper Studio bling and some ribbon scraps.

This could be used for a baby shower or even as nursery decor. Some more DCWV Baby Boy Nursery stack and Paper Studio brad and chipboard circle.

I'm teaching the 5 year old Sunday School class this year, so I'm planning to use these boxes for a craft project. Probably even more than once!

P.S. Found out that 2 of my cards will be in the January 09 issue of Cards. Sweet!

Be sure to sign up for my drawing!

Baby Card with some Sass!

This ended up not being your typical baby card, but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. We'll say this is for a well-to-do baby...since it's got bling on it! I used Bazzill cardstock, Daisy D's Spring Blossoms paper, Fancy Pants playing card, Prima bling and I used my Martha Stewart punch on some Basic Grey paper. Size is 4 1/2 x 6.

CPS Sketch #78 - Baby Bird Card

Don't faint...but I got out my sewing machine! I've had it since the dawn of time and it's in my scrap room, but a bunch of stuff sits in front of it and to be honest I don't really know how to run it! When I try to use it, I usually end up mad! But after getting my hubby's assistance on how to get it threaded I was good to go...now I remember why I keep him around...lol. I thought the shabby look of this Daisy D's Spring Blossoms paper needed some stitching. Please don't look too closely at how well the stitching was done :-) I also using a Making Memories chipboard bird and ribbon and Fancy Pants playing card. Size is 4x6 1/2. I made for this week's sketch at CPS.
Also be sure to sign up for my giveaway!

Use Your Stash Patterned Paper Challenge and 2 Sketches 4 You - Laura Sketch #6

I decided to post these together since they both use the fun Retro Metro line by Tinkering Ink. In addition to paper I also used some fun fabric strips from the same line. I love the look and have about used them all up already! Other products include Heidi Swapp chipboard letters, Around the block tape/label maker and some Darice gems.

I made this for this week's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. Size 4x6.

I made this for the patterned paper layout challenge at Use Your Stash. Size 8 1/2 x 11. I kind of created them in reverse. I made the Merci card for my DT work, then the layout and then the Thanks card.

Be sure to sign up for my giveaway too.

ETA: I got a BOB mention over on Card of the Week :-)

Emma's Paperie Goodness!

Ok...I really should run to town tonight to buy a Powerball ticket. I can not believe how many goodies I've won lately! I was originally drawn to Emma's Paperie because of the name, because the name Emma rocks :-) She was also kind enough to send me a gift certificate for my bday last month and I have been going online adding things to my basket and now I see they have even more new things in the store. I want everything!!!!!!! They carry all the latest and greatest and have an awesome design team. I am not just saying this because I won the RAK and am kissing up, but I stalk the site regularly for inspiration. I won some goodies from Pink Paislee, American Crafts glitter Thickers, Prima flowers and some neat little gift boxes. I haven't been able to find PP locally...so I can not wait to get my hands on it. I will definitely be posting some creations, so be sure to check back for those!

And in the spirit of all my winning of goodies lately I will be having a giveaway. I will be posting the details tomorrow. I am watching my nephews tonight and between them and my two children...I'd better not stay on here much longer...lol.

Are You Kitting Me??? I WON!

What a fun way to end a Friday!! I just got an email that I won the September kit over at Are You Kitting Me. I can't wait to play with this yummy kit next month! You'll be seeing some creations with it on my blog in the future!

Use Your Stash August Patterned Paper Challenge Cards

This card was made with some of my Tinkering Ink goodies that I won on their blog. This is the Retro Metro line. Very bright and I tend to use brighter colors...so totally fun stuff to work with! I used a sqaure punch and a One Heart One Mind sentiment. And I always have to have a little bling. This is from Darice. Size is 5x7.

The Becoming Green line from Tinkering Ink also included some of my current faves...butterflies! I was on a huge flower kick for awhile and now I seem to have moved onto butteflies. I used the Martha Stewart classic butterfly punch (it accidentally fell in my cart at WM the other day) to punch some of the butterflies from the paper. I added some Prima bling and Doodlebug ABC's. This card is actually more of a mini card at 3x3.

Last but not least I dug into more of my Reminisce papers. It is from the Girly Girl line. I used my EK Success photo corner punch along with some white Pioneer photo corners, once again Doodlebug ABC rubons and Darice bling and pop dotted behind the middle flower for dimension. Size is 4x4.

These were my patterned paper challenge items for August and you can check out what the rest of the design team made at Use Your Stash. Don't forget there is a very cool prize from Cosmo Cricket up for grabs so be sure to get out that paper and enter!

Paper Crafts - Cool Beans!

It's been a good week for me in regards to Paper Crafts! I got an email earlier this week that I won a prize on their blog and it arrived today. Most of it was stuff I can't find around here, so I love that! My fave thing was the Maya Road sheer ribbon. I'll post some creations using some of my goodies in the future.

Then on Friday I got an email requesting a card I made for their sketch call. This was one of the cards I didn't think I'd get emailed out in time because of the fiber options line being cut nearby. But luckily right before midnight I was able to get on long enough to send...whew!

Not sure how many creations I'll be posting next week. Busy with some DT work and need to get some stuff ready to send to some mags. I need to tweak a couple projects and get all the paper work filled out yet. Also a bunch of calls I want to submit to. I'm trying to get my submitting process organized. I'm a little better, but still failing miserably. Plus yahoo has been hating me the last couple of days and not letting me in much!

Anyhoo, hope everyone has a good rest of the weekend. We are headed to the State Fair tomorrow. I'm praying for no humidity, but since we are skipping church to go, I doubt I'll get my wish :-)

2 Sketches 4 You - Kazan #6

*Pic has been updated*
I apologize for the poor lighting on this. The bling is pink in person! I was hoping to get taken before it got dark, but we headed to Lowe's to shop for house remodel stuff. It's official we're adding on! I think my new scrap room location is changing, but I will still have way more room than I do now. I'm taking over my 2 kids' bedrooms once they move into the addition. I joke and say I'll have the store (supply) area and the crop area. We may combine the two rooms, but that would be a future project. What I'm the happiest about is that Miss E will now be able to have plenty of room to scrap with mommy. I could be mean and claim the new addition and even have more space, but I wouldn't do that to my kids. The hubby maybe? but the kids I'll behave myself :-)

Anyway, here is my card for this week's sketch. I used Reminisce Flirt paper, Doodlebug glitter cardstock, K and Company Smitten felt embellie, Creative Imaginations felt ribbon and Paper Studio bling. Size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I'll post a better pic tomorrow!

CPS Sketch #76

(Click on pic for a better view)
I was digging thru one of my paper stacks and came across this poodle paper from the Girly Girl line by Reminisce. I'll probably be nice and share some of it with Emma! In addition to the paper, I used Doodlebug glitter cardstock and ABC rubons and some Paper Studio bling. I pop dotted the middle poodle to have it stand out some more. Size 3 1/2 x 8 1/2. You can find the sketch here.

Helpful tip: It is really hard to adhere things to the glitter cardstock, so I used staples where it wouldn't show. Glue dots will sometimes work too.

Scrapbook & Cards Today - Allison Cope Sketch

On their 7/28 blog post, Allison Cope shared a layout sketch. Sorry I can't seem to get a way to link it up right to the sketch. Anyway, I changed it into a card sketch. I used K and Company Berry Sweet papers and stickers, Clearsnap Ice Jade ink and Doodlebug ABC stickers. Size is 5 x 7. Really happy with the way this one turned out!

A Rollercoaster Kind of Day!

The day started out well. I got an email from Crafts N Things and then later from Paper Creations requesting projects. Yeah! I had meaning to submit to Crafts for a long time, and just did for the first time and they saw something they liked! I then arrived home to my goodie box from Paper Trends for an item I had in their June/July issue. It was full of stuff I didn't have...and most of it I can't find around here so that's even better. I got some Dream Street Papers which I'm happy about. The other weekend I contacted every local store for some and no one had any.

Then I got a call from school. Miss Emma (who is in Kindergarten) is testing at a 2nd grade reading level, so they are going to do some more reading with her...go Emma! The day was still on a high note because we actually had a night where we weren't running to activities. I had a couple more cards I wanted to make for a call that ended today. I get home and find out that our internet is out because of some doo hickey that went down and they didn't know when it'd be up. I guess it affected a lot of people. I went ahead and made the cards and crossed my fingers I'd get online in time.

After putting the kids to bed I went into our mudroom where the freezer is and find the door wide open. It has been this way for the last 24 hours! Originally I thought it was my fault, but turns out it was the hubby. There was actually no yelling though and everything is cleaned up...he had been wanting to clean it out for a while...well he got his wish! I still can't get onto our computer, but finally I was able to get on the laptop. I had to do some fancy magic in order to get the pictures onto the laptop, but the cards have been sent off. Of course I know they probably won't get any love, but I tried anyway! So I guess that means the night ended on a high note...internet is back (well sort of anyway).

P.S. Pampered Chef stuff I thought was indestructible...but you can melt the handle on the pizza cutter!!!!

Tinkering Ink Goodness!

I have been "patiently (not)" waiting for my goodies to arrive. I was lucky enough to win a drawing over at their blog last week....sweet! I can't get TI locally so this will be my first chance to work with it. I got some papers, rubons, a chipboard album, chipboard banner and t-shirts...one for me and one for the hubby! The hubby one is hilarious! Steve could totally relate!

Look for Tinkering Ink creations on my blog in the future :-)

Sketch World - 7/30 Card Sketch

This card came together fairly quickly and I'm pretty happy with the results! I used this sketch. I used Daisy D's Chloe Marie papers and stickers, Paper Studio gems and a One Heart One Mind rubon sentiment. Size is 6x6.

Train Card

Here is my take on this week's sketch at Sketches By Tamara. It ended up turning out to be a simple card...heck I didn't even use a sentiment although I feel like the card is unfinished or something. This could be used for a small child or even a baby. Paper from Die Cuts With a View (the yellow is embossed), bling and button from Paper Studio, and ribbon from American Crafts. Size is 4x6 1/2.

2 Sketches For You Cards

*This card will be featured in the February 2010 issue of Crafts N' Things*

I used K and Company Berry Sweet papers and sticker (owl), Paper Studio bling, Making Memories ABC stickers, chipboard heart from???, Making Memories green paint and Doodlebug glitter. I made the circle using the Coluzzle. Size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

I used Making Memories Noteworthy papers, Paper Studio gems and American Crafts Chipboard letters. Size is 4x8.

Smile Card

Still trying to decide if I like this one or not, but I'll share anyway!

Autumn Leaves French Twist papers, Paper Studio bling, Apple Blossom Studio Suzie Scallop stamp, Ice Jade Clearsnap ink, K and Company sentiment sticker and Heidi Grace flocked sticker. Size is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

Baby Card - ROAR!

*Will be in Spring issue of Paper Creations.

I used Kraft paper, Die Cuts With a View Nursery Stack, Paper Studio buttons, Doodlebug rubons and KI Memories stickers. I put pop dots behind the lion to give him some dimension. Size is about 6x3.

2 Sketches 4 You: Laura #5

Here is my take on this week's sketch. I had some trouble getting started. I'm thinking it wasn't so much the sketch, but the mess on my scrap table that I was trying to make the card on! I made this with Rusty Pickle Pirate Princess - paper, stickers and chipboard sword. I painted the sword with Apple Barrel white and pink paint and then used Doodlebug glitter. (I'll be wearing that for the rest of the day now!) I inked everything with Ranger Black Soot ink. (I'll be wearing that too!) Also cut some flowers off Prima ribbon and used Darice and Paper Studio jewels. Size is 5x7.

Miss Emma's Card Creations (She's 5!)

I was upstairs working on some cards when Miss E came up for a looksy. She LOVES my scraproom. Unfortunately with my room being so tiny and I have stuff piled everywhere there isn't much room in there for her to create. She does make stuff from time to time, often involving jewels and my glue dots! If and when we build on, when I get a larger scrap room I want to make sure there is plenty of room for a kids area. She made these cards all by herself. Actually it's one card decorated on each side. She did everything herself, with the exception of stamping. She picked out the stamp and ink, but I stamped it for her where she told me to. Not only does she like to scrap, but she loves to draw. And in my opinion she's pretty darn good at it. I'll have to post some drawings sometime. I can't draw at all, so not sure who she gets it from? She got into some of my good stuff - I tried not to flinch :-)

Products used are: DCWV stickers, Daisy D's Chloe Marie border sticker, Clearsnap ink, Suzie Scallop stamp from Apple Blossom Studio, Paper Studio gems (she's into bling like her mommy!) Card base is from DMD and size is 5x7.

On this side she used Scrapworks Shimmer Shapes and also added some Daisy D's Chloe Marie border sticker and a Paper Studio gem. DMD card base size 5x7.

Daisy D's July Challenge Toot!

*Removed for publication in an upcoming Crafts N Things issue.

I was excited to find out today that I won their July Challenge Contest. It was to create paper decorations using Daisy D's paper and embellishments. I used the Wonder Years line. I created a card, banner, cup and hat. I used brads to connect the animals' arms so you can actually move them. I was really happy with the way it turned out..I guess Daisy D's was too :-) I can't wait to get some new Daisy D's goodies to play with!
