RAK x 3!!!

I'm apparently getting my lucky sister Steph 's luck. I've won 3 things recently from different blogs and giveaways. A cute Cosmo Cricket gingerbread man set from Lynn Warner, a cool set of acrylic stamps from Apple Blossom Studios and found out yesterday I won some scrap goodies from Kim Hughes to celebrate Scrapbook and Cards Today summer issue. I should return the Random Act of Kindness and do a blog giveaway. Unfortunately I don't think anyone reads this thing! And one of my sisters would end up the winner :-) If I find out I do have some readers look for a giveaway in the future. Thanks everyone!

This helped cheer me up from the fact that we are having some house hunting issues...errr....

Di Hickman Sketch June #4

I kept this card pretty simple, but loving the way it turned out. I was a little nervous about the slant on the sketch, but it actually came together quickly! I used Bazzill Cardstock, Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie, Making Memories felt ribbon, Prima Flower and Paper Studio brad. Size is about 3x6. Oops I just realized how crooked I took the picture. When I get some daylight I'll try for a little better one.

Sketch This #55

Here is Janelle's newest sketch. I really like how this card turned out. I used Making Memories paper and felt ribbon, Prima paper (that's the quote) and flowers, Paper Studio brads and a little Clearsnap Chestnut Roan ink. Size is 5x7.

Danielle Flanders Sketch

I can't remember how I even found her blog but I visit frequently as she makes the neatest cards. Her layouts are pretty cool too! She posted a sketch challenge this week and this is my attempt. I changed the triangle to a half circle. I have to admit I had some problems getting started on this one...I think the triangle scared me for some reason...lol. Paper and Die Cut are Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie, ABC Stickers are American Crafts, Prima Flower, a little Clearsnap Chestnut Roan ink, Paper Studio bling and Making Memories Brad. Size is 4x6.

Daisy D's Dad Card

I made this for their June Challenge. I used papers and a die cut from their Autumn Collection and the brackets are from Winter Fun. I also used DCWV rubon letters, Making Memories brads, Bazzill cardstock and inked everything with Clearsnap Chesnut Roan. Size is 5x5.

Emma's Paperie Sketch

I was originally interested in this blog/online store because of the name :-), but I have found it a great place for inspiration. I saw they had posted a sketch and decided to give it a go. I ended up flipping the sketch on it's side. I used Berry Sweet paper and flowers and a Die Cuts with a View chipboard sentiment that matched really well I thought. I also used Creative Cafe felt ribbon, inked everything with Clearsnap Chesnut Roan and added a couple Doodlebug gems. It is a smaller card at around 3 x 4 1/2.

CPS Sketch #71

This card feature bright colors which I love. I'm trying to get outside this box and do more muted colors as well (see some of my next cards for this). I used a Paperbilities (DMD) 5x7 white cardstock base (love these use them alot!), Berry Sweet paper, a Hambly screen print, Doodlebug gems and Die Cuts With a View sticker. Size of the card is 5x7. This weeks sketch can be found here.
ETA: This was picked as a Reader's Spotlight :-)
This will also be featured in the December 2008 issue of Cards Magazine!

Scrapbook Trends November Issue - Sweet!

I have finally broken into Scrapbook Trends...I was beginning to think I was on some kind of "no" list...lol. Although I have hardly made any layouts in the last few months, so duh, maybe that's why nothing was being picked? Actually it was a card I had picked up, but I say it still counts! Now I'm just trying to get Cards magazine to show me some love.....

My Sketch World - 6/14

I'm so sketchy this week! Surfing the net I found this blog and liked their recent sketch so I gave it a go. Papers are Basic Grey Blush and the paper strips are from the packaging that shows small examples of all papers in the paper pack. Also used Darice gems, Making Memories ric rack and American Crafts rubons. I will definitely be checking in for their next sketch!

Sketch This #54 Card

*This card will be featured in the May 2009 issue of CARDS magazine.

My first attempt at one of their sketches. They can be used for layouts or cards and there are some great examples of the sketches on their blog each week. I used Basic Grey Cupcake paper and stickers, Paper Studio chipboard, Darice gems and of course the Dymo label maker (again).

Di Hickman Sketch - June #3

I feel like I've been in a creative card slump lately so I'm hitting the sketches hard. I'm having a lot of fun! It's a good starting point and sometimes you end up sticking to the sketch pretty literally and sometimes you deviate! I have been checking out Di's blog on a regular basis and gave a go at last Wednesday's sketch. My card is a little funky so beware! Fancy Pants Playing Card, Prima Flowers, DCWV brads, Basic Grey paper, Paper Studio bling, of course my Dymo lable maker and a key I found in the junk drawer.

2 Sketches For You - Kazan Sketch #3

Here is my attempt at this sketch this week - I flipped it 45 degrees.... I get so crazy sometimes...lol. I used Basic Grey's Blush paper, Paper Studio Bling and a Colorbok chipboard sentiment. I inked everything up with Clearsnap Chestnut Roan - my fave color ink ever! I was really happy with the way this turned out!

CPS Sketch #70

Here is my attempt at this weeks sketch. I worked on the card, put it aside and the next day decided it needed a little bling! I pretty much put bling on everything anymore I noticed. Oh well at least I'm using something I bought! The paper and stickers are Basic Grey Cupcake, the rubons letters are Doodlebug (again) and the chipboard star is from Bazzill.
It was so humid out today that when I was taking pictures of my cards, the lens kept steaming up!

He's Superfreaky!

This is Parker being a goofball! Click for a larger pic.

The paper and die cuts are from Cosmo Crickets's Storytime line. Cardstock is Bazzill and the chipboard letters are Heidi Swapp.

A Couple of Cogsmos!

The name reminds me of the Jetsons! Cogsmo is a cute paper line from Cosmo Cricket and it just happened to fall in my cart the other day at Hobby Lobby....
The first Cogsmo card you will need to click here to find it in the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol contest.

The "I'm nuts for you" card was also made with Cogsmo and also some American Crafts ribbon, Doodlebug rubons, Bazzill cardstock and Paper Studio brad screws.

It keeps raining here off and on, so during a dry spell I ran outside to snap these.

Love Cards

I ended up grabbing some more Rusty Pickle for these. My desk is a huge mess and they were on top so that's what I went with!

The heart card is made with the Pirate Princess line. Love all the pink on these papers. Also used Heidi Grace paper for the heart, Prima ribbon (love this too!), Royal Brush rubon quote and Paper Studio jewels.

The cupid card was also made with Rusty Pickle. These were pieces that were in a goody bag from awhile ago so I'll update the line once I find it out. I also used Bazzill Cardstock, Making Memories?? ribbon, Rusty Pickle button and Paper Studio bling.

Thank You Card

On my 3rd afternoon off I accomplished nothing besides taking a nap..oops! OK I did work on getting some product info/instructions for some items I need to send out to a couple mags, but I did nothing that involved glue. We've also been gone every night this week with kids stuff, so I've had a small window of creating available and the nap snuck up on me!

On my last day before rejoining the working world (BIG YUCK!) I did make a few things. One was for a challenge at Use Your Stash to make cards with scraps and ABC stickers on them. Mine is made with Bazzill Cardstock, Die Cuts With a View and KI Memories papers and Doodlebug ABC stickers. I also used the asterisks as centers on some of the flowers.

PC Idol Card Attempt #3 - Rusty Pickle Popstar

Card #3

I got a layout and card made with the Rusty Pickle Popstar and also a valentine card made with some Heidi Grace/K and Company today, but can't post any of them yet. I am entering them for some things, so if they don't get love, they'll end up here eventually!

CPS Sketch #69

I have stalked this site for weeks looking at all the cool cards people make based on each week's sketch. This week I actually made one too! Here is the sketch.

I am very happy with the way this card turned out. Probably one of my faves I've made in awhile. You will have to forgive that it's a winter card in the middle of June, but when I saw the square in the middle I immediately thought of a snowflake. And I can't get enough of the Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper. It's definitely one of my BG faves! The clear plastic snowflake is from Heidi Swapp and the snowflake sticker from EK Success. The gem from Paper Studio and lace tape from Around the Block. I curled up the edges of the snowflakes to give the card more dimension.

2 Sketches 4 You - Laura Sketch # 2

Wow it's amazing how much creating you can get done when you have the day off work! Actually I helped with Vacation Bible School in the morning, so only got a couple hours of scrapping in this afternoon. Then raced off to baseball and soccer.

A very cute sketch, but I did deviate slightly from the original. I used a K and Company Wild Saffron die cut that I just had to buy. I added Fancy Pants flourish/floral rubons that were one of the things in a very cool RAK from Sherry Wright at Pursuit of Craftyness. I use the little Doodlebug ABC's a lot, just the right size for cards and also added some Creative Cafe felt ribbon and Paper Studio bling. Cardstock is Bazzill (don't ask me for the exact name!) and the pink paper is the backside of Lil Davis Rockstar - Stars Garnet.

Christmas Cards for Teacher - DCWV

I stayed up way too late last night and cranked these out for a call. It ended at midnight and one of the card types were Holiday Teacher Cards. I had bought the Die Cuts With A View Grade School Stack (the mini one) at Joann's specifically for this and for other teacher card calls and am trying to be better about using what I buy so I made myself make some! I love their Butterflies and Blossoms but so far have struck out locally on finding any. Like I really need anymore flowers??? LOL. Anyway here were the two I came up with. The wind kept catching them this afternoon so they are being supported by rocks in the back!
(ETA: No love for them...I can't break into this magazine...but I keep trying!)

Paper Crafts Gallery Idol Entries

The first round are friendship cards - but we can't post them online anywhere but their gallery so see the links below. I made these a few days ago and have finally been able to get some pics of them taken. I used Cosmo Cricket's Honey Pie line on both of them. This paper is very versatile and can be used for a variety of cards. Also like how it looks little bit shabby, but not too crazy shabby!

A Picklelicious 2 Sketches 4 You Card

In the past I've been posting my scrap "stuff" on my family blog. I'm challenging myself to get more scrapping done and I'm hoping to be posting a lot of creations in the near future. Therefore, I don't want to bore those that are checking in to see what my kids are up to and so goes the opposite - those who want to see my work, may not give a hoot about the kidlets...lol. I'm not moving my work already posted over here though, so check out Hansen Happenings if you want to see some older stuff.

Anyway, one of the challenges to myself is do do more challenges and sketches. I sometimes have a hard time getting started and I think that often is what keeps me out of my scrap room. That and the fact that it's usually a pit in there!

My first card sketch I've ever attempted is the 2 Sketches 4 You - Kazan Sketch 2 that was posted this week. I must say that I really enjoyed using a sketch. I kept fairly true to the sketch, although did modify slightly.

As for the products I used, I was excited to get a RAK in the mail the other day from Rusty Pickle and I'm assuming Jill was behind it :-) It was a bunch of things from their Pop Star Line. It's an all black and white line that is very doodley (if that's a word). It's a little out of my comfort zone, but as they say it was "Picklelicious" to work with. I cut out some doodles from two different papers to piece the frame together and cut out the flowers (put a pop dot behind the little flower for dimension). I used a teal Sharpie and a pink Zig to color them in a bit and also used a Rusty Pickle Thanks rubon that I already had in my stash. The only non-Rusty stuff are the two felt flowers. They are from the Berry Sweet line from K and Company. I was looking for some brads to put in the middle and happened to notice that these matched perfectly. Love when that happens by accident!

I have another card floating around in my head to use those papers on, but that will have to wait until another day!
